Biography Mankiewicz Vladimir Mikhailovich
Born in 1918 in Smolensk. He graduated from the 7th high school, worked as a driver in the fleet. In 1938, drafted into the Red Army. In 1939 he graduated from the Military Aviation School, worked there as an instructor pilot. Trained cadres to the front.
. In May 1943 fighting against Nazi invaders in the Central, Belorussian, Baltic and Leningrad fronts.
. From May 1943 to July 1944 squadron Mankiewicz covershila 1,045 combat sorties, destroyed 52 enemy aircraft.
. By the day of victory Mankiewicz had on his personal account 320 combat sorties, 65 air battles, 23 personally destroyed the aircraft.
. August 18, 1945, Major Mankiewicz was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union . In addition, he was awarded three Orders of the Red Banner, Order of Alexander Nevsky and medals. In 1959 he transferred to the reserve.
He currently lives and works in Kharkiv.
