Biography Bondarevskaya Igor Z.
International Grandmaster (1950), an international arbitrator, an international grandmaster in correspondence (1961), Honored trainer of the USSR (1966).

Champion of the USSR (1940). Winner Team World Team Championship for correspondence (1958-64) at the first board.

Igor Z. Bondarevskiy first declared itself in competition in his native Rostov. In 1936 comes to him the first major success of the All-Union - first place in one of the groups of the tournament the first category. Even at that time the game Bondarevsky attracted worldwide attention. The young player fought aggressively, enterprising and well oriented in the tactical complications. A year later, Igor Z. debut in the USSR Championship. The first pancake, as often happens, came out lumpy. But in 1939 he was sixth, and a year later in the composition of the outstanding shares Bondarevskiy tournament title since Lilienthal. It was the finest hour Bondarevsky-chess.

One can only lament that the peak of Igor Zakharovich, like many players, took place in the war years. After the war Bondarevskiy less and less involved in the competition by switching to correspondence play and coaching. Selected on the inter-zonal tournament of 1948, Bondarevskiy not take part in the tournament contenders. Apparently at this point, he finally had prioritized. In both arenas he was waiting for success. From top-class players embarked on the difficult path of a mentor can be mentioned only Boleslavsky. Probably none of the coaches can boast of the cooperation with a constellation of names - Keres, Geller, Spassky. Collaborate with the tenth world champion, of course, stands alone. According to eyewitnesses, Bondarevskiy was very tough and demanding coach. Perhaps it was and needed Spassky.

Many believe that Boris never part with his coach, the match Fischer, he would not lose ... Speaking about Bondarevskiе?, not to mention its contribution to the theory of one of the most popular origins - queenside gambit. The famous system of TMB is still considered one of the most reliable in this debut.
