He worked as a fitter rail depot in the city of Pskov region bottom, then - an assistant locomotive engineer. In the Red Army in 1929. He graduated from the school Eisk marine pilots and letnabov. In 1939, at Khalkhin Goal in 40 air battles in the group shot down 6 Japanese planes. Then he served in the 13 th Fighter Aviation Regiment (10-Mixed Aviation Brigade, Air Baltic Fleet). Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940.
