He graduated from infantry school in Smolensk in 1925, 1 course in the Military Academy named M.V. Frunze in 1938. During the Civil War fought against the Germans and the White Poles on the Western Front. Took part in the Russo-Finnish War 1939 - 1940 years, commanded a rifle regiment.
