. He took part in defensive battles near Kiev, Kharkov, in the battles of Stalingrad and Kursk, the liberation of Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. For military distinction awarded two medals "For Service in Battle" (1942, 1955), medals, 3a defense of Kiev, "" For the defense of Stalingrad "and two other medals.

In September 1943, to the Dnieper river crossings in the area of Kremenchug flooded German divisions, broken the Steppe Front of Poltava and Belgorod, Kharkov and Krasnograd

At this point, Klimov showed great courage and resourcefulness. Despite the heavy fire of the enemy, he took the ferry aground and thereby saved the military equipment from flooding.
