A eskonozhenko Nicholas Gavrilovich pilot 513th Fighter Air Regiment (Air Force 52-th separate Army), Lieutenant. Born May 6, 1919 in the village Novodanilovka now Akimov region Zaporozhye region (Ukraine) in a peasant family. Ukrainetz. He graduated from the 7 classes of schools and school FZU. Since August 1936 he worked as a fitter in Melitopol locomotive depot, at the same time he studied at the flying club. In the Red Army since 1938. In September 1939, graduated from the 1-th Kachin Red Banner military aviation school pilots the AF Myasnikov. In the lieutenant was sent to serve in the Leningrad Military District.

In Private World War II from June 1941. He fought in the areas of Malaya Vishera, Chudova, Novgorod. He flew 2 sorties to attack enemy troops.

November 2, 1941 Komsomolets Lieutenant Leskonozhenko NG. flew at the head level LaGG-3 to cover the troops moved by rail to the area of Malaya Vishera, and to attack the enemy crossing across the Volkhov. "Junker" fell to the ground and exploded on its own bombs. Meanwhile Leskonozhenko again began to climb. Behind him immediately rushed 3 "Messerschmitt". Leskonozhenko ducked the gun runs, went to the tail of one of the attackers and stabbed a screw. "Messerschmitt" caught fire and went to the ground. At this time the plane hit Leskonozhenko bursts. He was wounded in the head and shoulder. Of the latter, the forces he was able to leave the damaged aircraft. Landed by parachute near the Army manual, and then lost consciousness. Infantrymen took him to the hospital at the station Krasnyanka, but to save the life of him could not - he died the same day.

Buried in the village of Kamenka Malovishersky district of Novgorod region. On his grave is a monument.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin. Order of the Minister of Defense of the USSR of December 20, 1958, Lieutenant Leskonozhenko ever enrolled in the lists 1 Squadron of the regiment, which fought.
