Biography Evagrius of Pontus (Euagrios)
Evagrius of Pontus; Euagrios, OK. 346-399 years. n. e., Greek Christian writer. Born in Pontus, brought up in Basil and Gregory the Theologian. He was famous oratorical in Constantinople; forever left in the 382 g. , Withdrew to the wilderness, where remained until the death. His numerous works, painted Origenism (cm. Origen), for the most part lost or survived under different names, and only now been opened. The most famous works of E., preserved in Latin, Syrian and Aramaic translation, devoted to the monastic life. Works E. had a profound influence on later ascetic literature, especially in the literature of the Eastern Church.
