Biography GERMAS (Hermas)
Germas; Hermas, I / II cc. n. e., Greek Christian writer. The author works Shepherd, where he is in 5 "visions", 12 "commandments" and 10 "assimilation" has gathered moral instruction, relating mainly to repentance. His book is apocalyptic in nature (see. The apocalyptic literature). It was read in churches, because many places it was given to the intriguing autobiographical explanation. G. writes simple folk language with numerous Hebraism, biblically colored. Commandments and moral teachings, as the doctrine of repentance, as contained in the Shepherd, allow us to penetrate into the life of the Christian community in the first half of II. n. e.
