Osipov Viktor Ivanovich

Born April 15, 1937, Mr.. in d. Hovo-Mikhajlovka Duvanskogo district of the Bashkir ASSR. He graduated from the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University (1959).

Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1964), Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1977). Professor of Soil and Engineering Geology, Geological Faculty (1976). Director of Engineering-geological and geo-environmental Research Center, RAS.

Member of the Academy of Sciences (1991, corresponding member since 1987). Chairman of the Scientific Council of RAH in engineering geology, geo-environmental and geocryology (1989). Member (1980), Vice-President (1986-1990) International Association of Engineers geologists. A member of specialized councils D.033.05.27 (1976), K.053.05.06 (1976), Moscow State University. Member of the Advisory Board of BAK (1987). Chief editor Geoecology (1988).

Winner of USSR State Prize (1988). Awarded the Medal Veteran of Labor (1986).

. Research interests: Fundamental aspects of environmental protection, the theory of strength of soils, artificial changes in the properties of soils, management of the geological environment and framework of environmental policy
. One of the founders of domestic methods and apparatus for the study of moisture and density of soils with the use of radioisotopes. His research contributed significantly to the establishment of the basic laws of formation of strength and deformability of fine-grained soil, . which is of great importance in addressing the reliability of structures, . constructed on weak ground and reducing the impact of the development of catastrophic natural processes,

Under his leadership, met the priority research in the field of quantitative analysis of microstructures of argillaceous rocks and the development of theoretical foundations of a geotehnogennyh arrays. Has more than 10 patents and certificates of invention. Topic of Ph.D. thesis: Study of methods for determining the density and moisture-grained soils on the scattering of gamma rays and neutrons.
