Biography KOPP Michael L.
Born June 10, 1940, Mr.. G. Moscow. He graduated from the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University (1962).
Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1972), Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1992). Senior Research Fellow Department of Dynamic Geology Geological Faculty. Senior Researcher, Laboratory of Tectonics platforms Geological Institute RAH.
Research interests: in 1962-1971 he. studied the tectonic structure of Neogene deposits and orogenic development Kopetdag. In 1972-1980 he. conducted research in methods of geological interpretation of space imagery to study the tectonic structure of the folded regions and search for prospective oil and gas structures. At the same time conducted the structural and geological studies in South-East Caucasus, which led to the discovery of a number of shear zones. In 1981-1990 he. engaged in detailed neotectonic studies Kura Basin on the basis of ground observations and interpretation of space images. The result was a model of deep structure and drafted recommendations for finding nefteperspektivnyh zones at depths of depression. In 1990-1992. worked on the drafting of the Tectonic Map of Europe at scale 1:5000000 Academy of Sciences committee on international tectonic maps. For many years conducted research on the analysis of orogenic geokinematiki the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt, which culminated in a series of articles and are reflected in his doctoral dissertation. Main results:
. - The southern slope of Great Caucasus, . Kura Basin, . Kopetdag: proof of the essential role of horizontal compression in forming the structure of the region, . established broad development of the regional shifts, . clarified the sequence of formation of structural zones, . thoroughly dissected Cenozoic deposits of a number of sites, . a connection olistostromovyh horizons of the southern slope of Great Caucasus with the eustatic transgressions;,
. - Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt: found a number of previously unknown regional developments and proven relationship with the transverse fold zones in the northern part of the Alpine-Himalayan belt, . improved method of analysis associated with shifts of structural drawings for the study of internal geokinematiki fold belts, . identified and described changes of synthetic and antithetic types, . The significant role of the longitudinal horizontal movements within the Alpine-Himalayan belt, . caused by the overflowing of the material to the less compressed areas, . and on this basis, a new model geokinematicheskaya latter;,
. - Improving the methods of geological interpretation of satellite images, in t.ch
. interpretive signs describe faults and lineaments, actively growing lifts and other structures; found a number of neotectonic sites promising to find hydrocarbons in the valley and foothill basins of the Caucasus and Kopet Dagh.
. Topic of Ph.D. thesis: The structure of the North-West Kopetdag and conditions of its formation
. Subject doctoral dissertation: megastructure horizontal squeezing in the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt.
