(1909 - 1978)

Born on May 12 in Moscow in the family of a prominent lawyer. He grew up in Arbat lanes, here graduated from high school, there was brought to his first political dossier. He studied at the highest state of literary courses.

In 1933, Yu Dombrowski was sent from Moscow to Alma-Ata (3 years references). Several years working as a teacher of literature in school.

Then followed the arrests: in 1936 - the first, when 7 months in remand prison, in 1939 - the second, sent to a camp at Kolyma, where he remained until 1943, and in 1949 - the third, sent in Taishet Ozerlag, where he was until 1955. The charge was one: "overtones of activities of the Party and Government; distributing anti-Soviet fabrications". Yu Dombrowski went through all this, "do not recognize and did not signed. In 1956 he was exonerated for lack of evidence.

Creativity Yu Dombrowski can be divided into two periods: Kazakh (1937-55) and Moscow (1956-78).

In 1937, actively cooperated with the newspaper "Kazakh Pravda" and the magazine "Literary Kazakhstan", posting notes, reviews, literary critiques. In 1938 - the first story "The Death of Lord Byron". In 1939 took a big literary debut - his novel "Derzhavin" where the author explores the interest of his subject: the Hero and Time.

In 1956 returned to Moscow two years completing the novel "The monkey comes over his skull, begun in 1943 (appeared in Novy Mir in 1963).

Publication in the journal "New World" novel "Keeper of Antiquities" (1964) was an event in the literature, the author made famous. The next novel - "The Faculty of unnecessary things," continues the previous novel. The author devotes his problem of law and society. In the afterword to say about the book: "Do not write it, I could not. I was given the unique opportunity to life - I was ... witnessed the greatest tragedy of our Christian era. ... There is a court. I am obliged to speak on it ". The novel was finished in 1975, but the first edition have been abroad: in Paris in 1978.

May 29 Y. Dombrowski died without seeing his novel published.
