Biography Walter Arndt (Arndt)
Arndt, Walter (Arndt), (1891-1944), German physician and scientist. Born January 8, 1891. He studied science at the University of Breslau. In 1914 he received a medical degree. During the 1-st World War was a military doctor in a field hospital, in October 1914 was in Russian captivity. After two and a half years for the exchange of medical personnel returned to. After the war, was engaged in medical and educational activities, traveled a lot, gained recognition both in Germany and abroad. In 1940 became an honorary member of the Germanskogo Zoological Society. Entirely absorbed in scientific activity, Arndt had little interest in politics, resulting in putting their lives in mortal danger because they accidentally dropped it. In 1944, the plane he shared with his colleagues: "Third Reich comes to an end. And the guilty are punished ". Denounced by Arndt was arrested and sentenced by the People's Tribunal to death. He was executed on June 26, 1944.
