Biography Bц?rckel Joseph (Beurckel)
Bц?rckel, Joseph (Beurckel), (1895-1944), Nazi Reichskommissar in Austria. Born March 30, 1895 in Lingenfeld. Participated in the 1 st World War. After the war he was a teacher, but most of his time gave the fight against the French occupation of the Rhineland. In 1925, resigned as a teacher, completely surrendering to the creation of Nazi organizations in their region. In the same year he became Gauleiter of the NSDAP in the Rhineland. Bц?rckel founded his own newspaper "Der Eisenhammer" ( "Iron Hammer"), which was banned by the authorities several times. In 1930 he became a member of the Reichstag from the Nazi Party Saar. In 1934, succeeding von Papen, was authorized by the Saarland, and the following year, when the Saar again went to Germany, became his Bц?rckel Reichskommissar. Following the Anschluss Bц?rckel was appointed Gauleiter of Vienna and Austria reyhsshtathalterom. Probably committed suicide on Sept. 28, 1944.
