VIRMER Joseph (Wirmer)

Virmer, Joseph (Wirmer), (1901-1944), famous Berlin lawyer, who played an important role in the July 1944 plot against Hitler. With his outstanding diplomatic skills and negotiating skills, Virmer become a link between the right (Goerdeler) and left (Stauffenberg, Leber) wing of the conspiracy. Virmer was arrested shortly after the failure of the conspiracy and executed on September 8, 1944. In his last letter to his wife from prison Furstenberg on the eve of execution, he wrote: "Dying is easy. I hope to keep your spirit until the end. All I can say - love one another, be kind to each other, help each other. "
