Biography SHTREYB Werner (Streib)
Shtreyb (Streib) Werner (13.6.1911, Proftsheym, Baden - 15.6.1986), the pilot - a night fighter, the colonel. His first fight Shtreyb held during the French campaign in 1940. Most of the service held in the 1-st night fighter squadron, commanded it includes 2 nd Squadron, 1 st team, and in 1/7/1943 - entire squadron. He was the first aviator who succeeded during the night to shoot down a British bomber 'Blenheim' (20.7.1940). The best achievement Shtreyba - 5 kills 'Lancaster' for 30 minutes. Over 6 night victories Shtreyb 6/10/1940 was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, for 42 - 26.2.1943 oak branches, and for 65 - 11.3.1944 swords (54-th holder of this award). In March 1944 the Inspector night fighter aircraft. Was the most authoritative Luftwaffe night-fighter. Altogether during the war Shtreyb scored 66 victories (in t.ch. 65 at night) - a 5 result of the night fighters. After the war, was hired by the Luftwaffe and in 1966 received the rank of major general.
