FOURIER, Charles

Charles Fourier (1772 - 1837) French Socialist. Criticized the present system of "civilization" and developed a draft plan for the future of society - the system of "harmony" in which to deploy all the human faculties. The primary unit of the new society, was "phalanx", combining industrial and agricultural production. He expressed understanding of future society (work as a need and delight, the destruction of the antithesis between mental and manual labor, etc.).
