Biography BEN Afra
Bains, AFRA (Behn, Aphra) (1640-1689), English novelist and playwright. Born in 1640, presumably in Wye (Kent). Secret government agent, the mistress of some of William Scott, a political adventurer in Suriname and the Netherlands. In 1666 or 1667, returning to England, became one of the first women to earn a living literature. Just do not know whether she was married to a merchant by the name of Ben. Its main novel - "Orunoko, . Regal or office "(Oroonoko, . or the Royal Slave, . 1688), . sentimental melodramatic stories from the life of the black prince and princess, . become slaves, . - Removed one of the first brightest literary images of 'noble savage', . Wrote to Ben about nineteen plays, some scenes are borrowed from other authors. Ben Afra died in London on April 16, 1689.
