Biography Lazaro CARDENAS
Lazaro Cardenas del Rio was born May 21, 1895 in the city Chikulpan. At age 18 he joined the revolutionary army of General Guillermo Garcцґa AragцЁn, and less than a year rose to the rank of captain. When the revolutionary forces split into several parts, Cardenas remained loyal to Venustiano Carranza, whose army is defeated in 1920.

. In the same year he was appointed General Cardenas (highest rank in the Mexican army) and continued its participation in military campaigns until 1929
. In 1928, Mr.. He became a major general and was elected governor of his native state of Michoacan, having served in that position the whole period until 1932. Among other things, Cardenas played a prominent role in the formation of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (Partido Nacional Revolucionario) in 1929 and the following year was elected its president.

. Cardenas was the Minister of the Interior for 6 weeks in 1931
. and the Minister of War and the Navy in 1933. This was his last post, which he left to become the PRI candidate in the presidential election in 1934. Although he had no doubt of victory, between the appointment of his candidate and election day was about a year, during which he pursued an active campaign.

. In 1940, his term ended, but the continuing political career, he served as defense minister in 1943-45 years in the government of Manuel Camacho. From 1969 until his death Cardenas was honorary president of the World Peace Council. He died on October 19, 1970 in Mexico City.
