Opposition journalist is shot in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyz reporter Alisher Saipov was killed last night in Osh, southern Kyrgyzstan.
As a source at the Kyrgyz Interior ministry told a REGNUM correspondent, the journalist was supposedly killed from a Makarov gun. Alisher Saipov was shot twice in his chest and once in the head. Political analyst Ikbol Mirsaitov reportedly was with Saipov at the moment of the attack. He was not hurt.
Under preliminary reports, the assassination was connected with the reporters? professional activity. Investigation was started on the case.
Alisher Saipov worked with Ferghana.ru and was correspondent for Radio Liberty and Voice of America. Lately, he was publisher of Siesat Uzbek-language opposition newspaper.
