Kyrgyz journalists urge investigation of murder of their colleague
Assassination of Kyrgyz reporter Alisher Saipov was connected with his professional activity, members of the NGO Osh Media Resource Center say in their address to President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the Kyrgyz government and security forces, a REGNUM correspondent informs.
"The coordination council acting on behalf of 200 full members of the Osh Media Resource Center expresses its serious concern regarding the assassination of the prominent reporter, Alisher Saipov, who was shot by unidentified people late on October 24, 2007. We believe the assassination was connected with the professional activity of our colleague and urge to conduct a thorough investigation and punish those involved in the crime," the statement runs.
