"Researchers of the University of archaeology RAS during excavations in Zaryadye, in the milled area of the hotel "Russia", revealed the ancient capital of Posada street - the Great street, which was formed at a very early stage of development of the metropolis, quite possibly, already in the XII century," he said, adept of the Institute of archaeology RAS RIA Novosti.
Professionals has analyzed ancient city artery and came to the conclusion that the street of the Great took place in the area Mokrinskogo lane. Managing excavation Leonid Belyaev stressed that it was strategically home for the nascent metropolis. "She led from the Kremlin to the Marina and is one of the oldest construction phase of the town in the XII-XIII centuries. The excavation laid in the South-Eastern part of the giant sites where the hotel was, and it has paid off," explained Belyaev.
The expert added that virtually the entire width of the excavation, which is 6.5 meters, the logs occupy the upper tier of the bridge (XVII-XVIII centuries), which in some places lay remnants of the first stone of paving, from under the tier of logs visible earlier values.
