Number of swine flu cases reaches 275,000 worldwide
The number of confirmed swine flu infections has reached 275,000 with more than 3,500 deaths worldwide, Russia`s consumer watchdog Rospotrebnadzor reported on Monday citing the World Health Organization.
"By September 13, 2009, the number of confirmed A/H1N1 infections stood at 274,896 with 3,555 deaths," the statement says.
According to the latest data, 319 people have been diagnosed with of A/H1N1 virus in Russia. Most of infections are among people who recently returned from trips abroad.
Russia began clinical tests of a live swine flu vaccine in the northwest city of St. Petersburg on September 10.
