Stephen Gately to Be Buried in Ireland on Saturday
Stephen Gately will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 17. According to a statement which was posted on Wednesday, October 14 on his band Boyzone`s official website, the funeral service is going to be held in Dublin, Ireland, a day after a "private family mass" will be kicked off.
"There will be a private family mass in Dublin on Friday night followed by a funeral service at St Lawrence O`Toole church on Saturday at midday," the statement read. "A further memorial service will be held in London, where Stephen & Andrew [Cowles] shared their home, at a date and venue to be confirmed in the near future."
Along with the announcement, the other members of Boyzone, Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch, confirmed that Stephen`s death body has been released by Spanish authorities. "He is now lying in a chapel of rest in a small village in the hills of Majorca whilst repatriation formalities continue," the statement continued. The foursome, moreover, has planned to fly to Majorca, Spain on Friday, October 16 to bring the body of "their brother" Stephen back home to Dublin.
Stephen Gately passed away on October 10 during a vacation in Majorca along with his gay partner Andrew Cowles. According to autopsy results, the singer died of pulmonary oedema or a build up of fluid in the lungs, which results in respiratory failure.
