Duterte decided to bury the hatchet with the United States
The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte decided to bury the hatchet with the United States after the victory of Donald trump.
"I would like to congratulate the President of the trump. Long live trump!" said Duterte on Wednesday. "We're here now, I don't want ... war, because trump is already there." The traditional Alliance between the United States and the Philippines became strained after Duterte called Obama "son of a bitch" in September. A month later, during a visit to China in October, Duterte said that the American Union is over, claiming that "the America we lost."
But one day after trump became President of Duterte stated that he and trump have common goals and the Union can be restored. Duterte agreed to continue military training with the United States.
National defense Secretary of the Philippines said that Duterte wanted to focus on creating internal security, while avoiding antagonism with China and the conflict in the South China sea.
He wants to get out of all hostilities with the United States, in order to minimize the value of the collateral for relations with China. It's a game he plays," said Director of security of Sydney.
The meeting will be held between the military officials of the US and the Philippines on 22 November, which will be discussed in planning exercises for next year.
