Australian swimmer insulted the Chinese Olympian
Australia refused to apologize after Olympic swimmer caused outrage that accused the Chinese Olympian that he was taking a prohibited substance.
Speaking to the media after the victory over China in 16 seconds Australian swimmer Mackenzie Horton described his victory as one of the best "for the good guys." Coach Australia categorically ruled out any possibility of apology on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters, she said Horton "has every right to Express their views and their displeasure."
Australian comments have sparked fury in China, accusing Horton that he intentionally exerted psychological pressure on the Olympian. The hashtag "sun Yang do not cry" quickly occupied the site, and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The message of Horton were flooded with angry comments since the attacks, demanding to apologize to the Chinese.
"You are too complacent and will die fast" written review on one of the posts in Instagram Horton. Others called him a "loser" and a "disgrace". Chinese state media also joined the outrage. Global Times has described Australia as a country "on the side of civilization."
Horton "unable to maintain his cynical complacency after the victory over the young, and the Australian media recklessly spread ill words of Horton," said the review.
Global Times fired back, saying in an official editorial that the Australians demonstrated their "inflated ego" and that they have no discipline.
