In San Diego was killed by a police officer
In San Diego, a police officer was killed and another was injured when they wanted to make a stop in the city, police said.
One suspect was wounded and is in custody. He is being treated in hospital from gunshot wounds, told reporters Friday morning, chief of police of San Diego, Shelley Zimmerman.
The police are trying to determine if someone was involved in a shootout in southern San Diego and asked people nearby to stay home. Details about the shootout are little known. Zimmerman said that two officers, both members of the reduction unit was going to stay in the city. It did not provide detailed information about why the staff tried to make a stop.
On the question of whether it was an ambush, the chief said it was not clear. "We have no sufficient information on this issue," she said. The names of the officers and the suspect was not named. The injured officer was shot in the upper torso, he had surgery in the hospital. He is expected to survive, said the police Department.
Zimmerman told officers who responded to the call for help, the pair made a heroic attempt to save the life of his colleagues, bringing him to the hospital in a patrol car.
