In India during the train crash killed 130 people
In India more than 130 people were killed when a passenger train Patna-Indore derailed, said inspector-General of police Zaki Ahmed.
The train that connects the Central Indian city of Indore and Patna went off the road near Kanpur. Kanpur, in Uttar Pradesh is 300 miles South-East of the capital new Delhi. About 50 people were injured in the crash and are being treated in hospital, said Ahmed.
Rescuers are still working to get the person who littered with debris with the help of two cranes, said Ahmed. Rescuers can see only the hands of person, so it is not clear whether he is alive.
One of the survivors told that the train began to shake and slow down with a sharp sound early Sunday morning.
"I felt as if the metal hits the metal, it was like a collision. My top bunk was almost tipped by the time the train stopped," said one of the witnesses.
What was the cause of the accident is not yet clear. Rescuers use cranes to remove the cars and debris. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu told journalists that the professionals will investigate the incident. "Now the priority is to rescue people and that's what we do," said Prabhu.
The railway system of India is one of the largest in the world, it is used by 1.3 million people. More than 23 million passengers ride them every day from one end of the country to another. The railway system, as you know, in a poor state and modernization is long overdue. In its latest budget, the government has set aside large sums of money to upgrade the system to improve the lights and lay more railway tracks.
