In the French quarter of New Orleans rocked the shots
In the French quarter of New Orleans early on Sunday morning rocked the shots. Causing one people were killed and 9 were injured, said city officials.
A dispute between two men on Bourbon street escalated into gunfire, said police chief Michael Harrison at a press conference on Sunday. Authorities are looking for two men who are believed to have left New Orleans. 2 women and 8 men ranging in age from 20 to 37 were wounded, said the chief police. 5 was released from the hospital and 4 remain in the hospital, expected to full recovery, said Harrison.
"We do not believe that those who were shot the intended target," said Harrison. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Demontre Toliver Lafayette from Louisiana, the man with the "promising lives", said mayor Mitch Landrieu. The shooting occurred during a 4-day holiday weekend. A popular tourist area was more intense than usual when the shooting started.
Police received a call around 1:30 in the morning. There was a report of shots fired at the intersection of Bourbon and Iberville, near the Western edge of the French quarter. About 40 police responded to the call, Harrison said. The shooting apparently stemmed from a dispute between two men, which started in another place, Harrison said, without going into details. When they faced each other again on Bourbon street dispute turned into a gunfight, after which the suspects fled from the scene.
