Today at Andreeva Bay, on the shore of the sea Barentseva history will be made: here for the first time in the history of the Russian nuclear industry will be exported the first shipment of spent nuclear fuel to the place of disposal. The flight will make a sea a container ship "Rossita". It is designed to work in the far North. In its compartments already loaded 10 special transport and packing containers.
First cargo by sea will be delivered to the Murmansk base of Atomflot, then by rail to Chelyabinsk enterprise "Mayak". This event was preceded by long years of hard work to create complex workflows for the safe handling of nuclear fuel and radioactive waste at Andreeva Bay, where once was the coastal technical base of the Russian Navy.
