Germany voted in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage
German lawmakers voted to legalize same-sex marriage on Friday, the landmark decision that occurred a few days after Chancellor Angela Merkel stopped its long-standing opposition to a free vote on this issue.
The bill would give homosexual couples in Germany have the same rights as heterosexual, and allow same-sex couples to marry and raise children. The bill will probably pass through the Bundesrat - the upper house of Germany next week. Earlier, the Bundesrat approved the legalization of same-sex marriage.
Once the law is officially signed by Germany will go to the club more than 20 countries where same-sex marriage is legal. Two-thirds of Germans said they are in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage in a recent YouGov survey.
