Nawaz Sharif was removed from office by the Supreme court
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was removed from office by the Supreme court of the country and will have to resign. The court ruled that Sharif is no longer considered suitable for the post of Prime Minister. The panel of five judges announced their unanimous decision on Friday afternoon.
The panel investigated alleged links to Sharif to offshore accounts and foreign real estate belonging to his three children. Assets which were not declared in the statement of family wealth, has been revealed in a massive leak in Panama in April 2016.
In mid-July, the Supreme court was signed a joint Investigative Committee in April 2017, which the investigation revealed incriminating documents that pointed to corruption of the Prime Minister and his family. Leak Panamanian securities caused massive protests in Pakistan and urged the opposition political groups to participate in the investigation into his and his children about their alleged offshore accounts.
Today's verdict is the second decision of the Supreme court this year, according to Sharif. In April, a group of five judges formed the Supreme court of Pakistan ordered a new investigation into allegations of corruption.
For the first time in the history of the country the leader was disqualified from office after trial.
