In Kenya, killed a member of the election Commission Chris Sando
A senior Kenyan official was found dead a few days before the country will go to the polls. Chris Sando headed information technology for Integrated management of elections in Kenya. His Department was responsible for identification of voters and transmission of results for the election on August 8.
Last time Mando contacted on Saturday morning when he sent a text message to a colleague. "We are in shock, killed our officer Chris Sando. There is no doubt that he was tortured", - said on Monday the Chairman of the Commission on elections Wafula Cebucity. Death Mando sparked new concerns about the ability of Kenya to hold credible elections.
"It is unclear who killed him and why ... I demand that the government ensure security for all employees of the IEBC that we must give Kenyans free and fair elections," said Cebucity. Election observers from non-governmental Supervisory Board of the Carter Center said in a campaign statement that the smooth functioning of the system of identification of voters is the key to "preventing malpractice in the election day".
Voters in the East African country needs to go to the polls next week, President Uhuru by Kenyatta hoping to get a second five-year term.
Sando had to follow a public testing of the control system of elections.
