In Hong Kong tens of thousands of people took to the streets
Tens of thousands of people on Sunday joined the March in Hong Kong to protest against the imprisonment of three leaders of the democracy for participating in the "umbrella movement of 2014".
Last week, the Hong Kong court has sentenced Joshua Wong, Nathan Lowe and Alex Chow, and three young organizers of the protests that have rocked Hong Kong 3 years ago to prison terms ranging from 6 to 8 months. They were convicted for illegal organizational works after in June of 2014, stormed government ownership, which has led to a 79-day overlap of the main roads in the heart of the financial district of the city.
On Sunday, the demonstrators went from WAN Chai to court 3 where the activist should appeal. Police reported that the number of protesters during the peak period on Sunday amounted to about 22 thousand people.
In 2014, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets to demand words on the elections of the leadership of Hong Kong and greater autonomy from China. Three were sentenced to 6 months on Thursday. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Hong Kong government said that the decision to appeal the initial sentences were "in accordance with the effective legal system of Hong Kong", and "absolutely no political consideration."
