Chubais warns of coming energy crisis.
The head of RUSNANO Anatoly Chubais told the journalists that in his opinion Russia could face an energy crisis in the next 6-7 years.
According to him this may be the case if investment in electroenergetica will decline and the commissioning of new capacities will be frozen. Anatoly Chubais reminded that just 10 years ago, the energy system of Russia was in a critical situation and the entire power system operated at the limit of its capacity.
At that time, only the reform of energy systems has given impetus to capacity grew, and in the coming years, a further reserve of spare capacity. However, is there to stop the pace of development of energy, then inevitably Russia will face a shortage of energy. And then, first, at the most critical moment, for example, in the 30 degree cold, it can cause an accident and a power outage, and secondly, the cost of electricity in this case will only grow.
On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that energy is an important component of the economy of Russia, and therefore it continues to stimulate the growth of investment in this sector. Moreover, the country relies on fossil energy sources, it also works in the direction of renewable.
