Died the head of the GRU Igor Korobov
Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian General staff (GRU) Igor Korobov died Wednesday at the 63rd year of life, informs the Ministry of defense of Russia.
As emphasized in the Ministry of war, Korobov has died after heavy and long illness. The Ministry of defense expressed condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
Igor Korobov was born in 1956 in Vyazma. In 1977 he graduated from the flight Department of the Stavropol higher military aviation school of pilots and navigators air defense named after Marshal of aviation Sudets.
He served in the regiment in Arkhangelsk, in 1980, seconded for service in the Main intelligence Directorate of the General staff. In 1985 he graduated from the diplomatic Academy of the Soviet Army, was a graduate of the Military Academy of the General staff Military power. Served in various positions, responsible for, for example, all foreign agents of the Main Department.
in January 2017, in Accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Korobov became the chief of the General staff Military power of Russia in the same year he was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
Korobov was married, he is survived by two daughters.
