Lil Wayne has been released
The `Lollipop` rapper completed his eight month sentence for attempted weapon possession on 04.11.10 and was released from New York`s Riker`s Island jail. He is now expected to fly to Miami, Florida, where he lives, to celebrate.
Wayne - real name Dwayne Carter - was sentenced to a year in prison in prison in March after a gun was found on his tour bus in 2007, with the sentence reduced for good behaviour.
Mack Maine, president of Wayne?s Young Money record label, said he is planning a party, titled ?Welcome Home, Weezy? - after another of his aliases - in a strip club to mark the occasion.
Mack said the rapper?s friends will: "Treat him like a king, like the royalty that he is and make him feel like we really missed him and welcome him back to the family, basically."
The 28-year-old had spent the last part of his sentence in solitary confinement after an MP3 player - a banned item in the jail - was found in his cell.
On Tuesday (02.11.10) Wayne corresponded with fans for the last time before being released, writing: "I vow to continue to be me. I don`t have to change for no one but God.
"I will be the same Martian I was when I left, just better." Before he lands home, however, the prolific artist may already have started recording new songs, as his record label were reportedly trying to find a jet with an in-built studio to fly Wayne home in.
Wayne will now be under a 36-month period of probation, which will be unsupervised and is to be transferred from New York to Florida.
