Chris Colfer lands debut movie role
`Glee` star Chris Colfer has landed his first big movie role.
The 20-year-old actor - who plays gay character Kurt Hummel in the cult musical TV show - has signed on to star in coming-of-age comedy `Struck by Lightning`, set up by `Youth in Revolt` filmmaker David Permut.
No director or other cast are yet attached to the project, which plans to shoot in summer 2011 when Ryan Murphy`s `Glee` goes on its next break.
It is not yet known what role Emmy-award nominated Chris will play in the movie, which is believed to have a "John Hughes-spirit", Variety reports.
Chris has only had other roles in two projects, including the voice of Drama Dog number 2 in `Marmaduke` and a part in short film `Russell Fish: The Sausage and Eggs Incident`.
He has previously admitted he is much like his flamboyant character in `Glee`.
He said: "I didn`t have too many friends and was made fun of and teased every day. I was a legit, 100 per cent, all original Glee club kid.
"We had a choir at school and I was involved in that. And drama - I loved performing arts. I was a living, breathing Gleek."
