Genesis finally reach Moscow

British rockers Genesis are to play in Moscow for the very first time. They will be joined by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in what promises to be a spectacular show.

The band, formed back in 1967 by Tony Banks and Peter Gabriel, was highly popular in the 1970s-1990s. Legendary participants of Genesis, Gabriel and Phil Collins, later engaged in very successful solo projects, repeatedly visited Russia with concerts. However, the band itself has never performed in Russia. The upcoming concert will see Ray Wilson as the group`s frontman and vocalist. The show will feature all the golden hits.

Genesis were among the first to start using lasers and other special lighting effects in their concerts. In August 1975 after a tour, the band`s founder and one of its brightest members Peter Gabriel decided to leave the group. His place was taken by a no less charismatic man, Phil Collins, who was the drummer, the composer of music and writer of lyrics for many of Genesis` songs. In 1993, Collins gave a farewell tour as Genesis frontman. Since 1997, Ray Wilson has headed the band.

Over the next 20 years the band became one of the most popular rock groups in the world, having recorded 16 studio albums, received several Grammy awards and sold more than 150 million records worldwide.

The long-awaited gig will be held at Moscow`s Crocus City Hall on Tuesday night.
