Formula One driver to be charged with assault
A lawyer for Eric Lux says the Renault executive plans to file a criminal complaint against Force India driver Adrian Sutil for assault following an incident in Shanghai.
The lawyer, Dr. Marc Henzelin from Swiss-based Lalive law firm, has made a statement that Lux will prosecute the driver for "for physical assault and grievous bodily harm" over a reported nightclub incident last month following the Chinese Formula One Grand Prix.
The lawyer added that Formula One`s governing body FIA and Force India will be notified once the complaint has been filed.
Henzelin gave no details about the incident but added that Lux "does not exclude an action against any other persons involved in this matter."
Formula One 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton allegedly accompanied his friend on April 17.
The 28-year-old Sutil has issued a statement in which he confirmed he attended a party after the race.
"During a private event, there was a very unfortunate action by me in which I hurt another person completely unintentionally," he said adding: "I regret the incident and have apologized accordingly."
"Since this was a private event and not directly related to Formula One or my job as a Formula One driver, I ask for understanding that I will say no more on this incident," he said.
