Shakira to play her first solo gig in Moscow
Whenever, Wherever? No, not this time! Precisely on May 24 at Moscow`s Olympiisky Arena. One of the brightest Latin-American pop stars, Colombian beauty Shakira is heading to Moscow with a gig in support of her latest album The Sun Comes Out.
Though the singer has already visited Russia, the concert at the Olympiisky Arena will become her first solo performance.
The first single from this album, Waka Waka, which became the official theme song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, contributed greatly to the promotion of the album. The number of views of this song on YouTube surpassed the 1 billion mark.
Aged 13, the future pop-star released her first album, Magia, which had no success. The second album, Peligro, was also unsuccessful. However the third album, Pies Descalzos, Suenos Blancos, released in October 1996, soon captured both Americas whole, selling 4 million copies.
Two years later, Shakira released Dónde Están Los Ladrones? which is still considered to be the best Spanish-speaking recording of the singer`s career.
The release of the album Laundry Service in 2001, recorded in English, became a serious turn in Shakira`s career. Her hit Whenever, Wherever and the decision to color her hair blonde brought her millions of fans worldwide.
The 34-year-old Columbian singer now has ten studio albums and dozens of singles, concert recordings and hit collections to her credit. She is also the winner of Grammies, World Music Awards, American Music Awards and MTV Awards.
