Justin Timberlake was honoured for his commitment to green living
The 30-year-old singer-and-actor was presented with the EMA Futures Award which celebrates a person "just hitting [his/her] stride in terms of environmental commitment and activism" at a ceremony at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California and joked about his love of green "herbs".
He said: "I like a lot of green things like nature and money and things like Kermit the Frog, golf greens, Al Green, hell - I even love Seth Green. I like all sorts of green herbs, some of which I take with medical prescription. It`s legal! Uh, green tea. That`s what I was referring to. Green tea."
EMA President Debbie Levin has praised Justin and fellow honouree the Producers Guild of America saying they "demonstrate taking a green lifestyle to the next level".
Justin - who was introduced by director Norman Lear - owns Mirimichi, an eco-friendly golf course just outside of his Memphis, Tennessee, hometown and described his efforts as a "fantastic journey for me, my family and friends".
He added: "My family and I heard that somebody was going to `Pave paradise and turn it into a parking lot,` so I decided to buy paradise myself instead!"
Nicole Richie, Kim Raver, Emily VanCamp, Kyra Sedgwick and Amy Smart all presented awards at the ceremony.
