Ukrainian Economic Court blocked by protesters
KIEV, November 9 -- Some 200 members of the Ukrainian Party of Defenders of Fatherland blocked the building of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine on Wednesday, demanding an immediate resignation of its chairman Dmitry Prityka.
According to Member of Parliament Yuri Karmazin, who is leading the protest, the picket is a warning action. "If the authorities agree to investigate corruption actions of Prityka and decide to remove him from his post for the period of the investigation, protest actions will be stopped," he told journalists.
The hearings of some 107 cases were disrupted by the protest action on Wednesday, the press service of the Economic Court reported.
Karmazin made public the facts on Prityka?s corruption on November 8 and demonstrated to journalists several written documents proving his point. Aside from it, Karmazin accused Prityka of illegally holding the post.
