Andie MacDowell admits the idea of dating again is "really hard"
The 54-year-old actress - who has grown-up children Justin, 26, Rainey, 22, and 17-year-old Margaret with former husband Paul Qualley - has been largely single since divorcing second spouse Rhett Hartzog in 2004 and thinks it would be hard to meet someone new because she feels so "isolated".
She said: "I`m in an unusual stage right now, because I haven`t dated in so long. The sense of isolation turns it all into a bigger deal. Just taking the risk of opening that door is really hard for me right now."
Despite her fears, the `Four Weddings and a Funeral` star admits she fantasises about being confident around men.
She added in an interview with Town & Country magazine: "In my fantasy, I would get into elevators, those old-fashioned, really beautiful ones in Paris, and start hitting on men ... It didn`t matter what they looked like or how old they were ... And as soon as the doors would open, it would be over."
The actress also believes it is important to stay classy as she gets older, and she won`t cheapen herself with inappropriate clothes.
She said: "There is sexy, and then there`s tacky sexy. When you`re young, you can get away with tacky sexy. I mean, it`s not even tacky when you`re young. But when you get older, it`s just tacky."
