Mel C has been named Celebrity Mum of the Year
The Spice Girl topped the poll by supermarket Tesco to find the most inspirational famous mothers, and credited her three-year-old daughter Scarlet - whose father is Melanie`s ex-boyfriend Thomas Starr - with boosting her self-confidence and happiness.
Speaking at The Savoy Hotel in London on 17.02.13, she told the Daily Express newspaper: "I am so much happier, more confident and courageous and it`s all thanks to Scarlet. Being with my family is the most important thing in my life. It`s sometimes difficult to find a balance with work and other commitments, so I make sure I treasure every second.
"Being a mum might not be easy, but it`s definitely the most rewarding job in the world. There are millions of inspirational mums out there, doing incredible things to help others. It`s fantastic to be involved with something that celebrates this."
The 39-year-old singer - otherwise known as Sporty Spice - joins six other mothers who will pick up Tesco awards at the star-studded ceremony on March 3 at The Savoy Hotel
The event will be screened on Channel 5 for Mother`s Day (10.03.13).
