Scientists open gene of fear
Scientists probably found a gene of fear: the gene which controls protein secretion in a part of cerebrum responsible for fear reaction.
According to the research published in a magazine Cell Thursday the gene known as statmin or oncoprotein 18 is concentrated in cerebellar tonsil - a part of cerebrum which is responsible for fear and anxiety. It was said in the research genetically modified mice which do not have statmin generating got changes in their cerebrums and able to remember less response reactions concerned with fear. "This [discovery] gives important information how acquired and inherent fear acts and is created and can show the way for new therapy", - said Gleb Shoumyatsky from the university of New Jersey.
