New device turns table into loud speaker
Japanese company demonstrated new acoustic system which allows turning almost any flat surface, such as computer table, into loud speaker.
Principle of work is based on use of magnetostrictive transformer, in which energy of magnetic field is transferred to energy of mechanical oscillations. At that device uses surface, on which it stands, as resonator.
It is noted that new system Fostex allows transforming of any material, except for glass and concrete, into loud speaker. Commercialization of technology is planned on first half of next year. It should be mentioned that produced sound is of high-quality and is rather loud.
