Biologists discovered secret of submerged Boeing
"Submerged Boeing" is the name scientists and military sailors gave to strange sound under water, the origin of which was not clear fro 50 years.
At present moment it became possible to find out that this sound at northern part of Pacific Ocean is caused by sea mammal.
Some time ago, it was found out that "Boeing" is a seasonal phenomenon, which is located at certain territories - therefore, version about enemy submarine was eliminated.
In 2002 Jay Barlow and his crew of researchers from National Ocean and Atmosphere investigations Administration finally caught strange sound with hydro telephones, analyzed it by computer and linked it with one of cetacean - Balaenoptera acutorostrata. Report about this discovery has been published recently.
It is possible that "Boeing" is a "song" of males which is connected to process of coupling.
Knowledge about personality of "singer" is important because biologists can use this sound to investigate population of cetacean.
