Prisoners of Kharkov colony refused amnesty
The premiere of the play by Grigory Gorin "The house Swift built" has taken place in Kharkov colony number 18.
The director of "Arabesque" theatre Svetlana Oleshko put the play on the stage together with Kharkov prisoners.
Actors busy with the play were suspicious of the idea of a theatre in jail at first. But after some time work with the play inspirited prisoners so much that some of them asked to extend a term of imprisonment. According to Oleshko some of convicts might be unbound under the amnesty on August. The premiere was planned for November so they asked direction to permit them to stay here until the premiere.
"Arabesque" theatre collaborates with local colonies for 5 years. Work was underway on staging during a year. Convicts themselves sewed costumes, made still and chose a play, "New Region" informs.
"Arabesque" theatre now is preparing other two premieres with prisoners: "Faust" in Lvov and "Housemaids" in female colony in Kharkov.
