Moscow Duma lays claim to Tretyakovka
Moscow Duma suggested transferring the collection of Tretyakovskaya State Gallery founder Pavel Tretyakov to Moscow city. On the threshold of 150-th anniversary of Tretyakovka to be in May 2006, the capital deputies reminded that Pavel Tretyakov in due time presented the collection and the building itself to Moscow. Therefore, supposes Moscow Duma, the fact that the Gallary belongs to Russian Federation instead municipality is not actually legal. This question has already been arisen by Duma several times, before the elections as a rule. Representatives of the Museum turn indignant on this suggestion. However, some deputies perceive it just as a PR activity. They are sure that Tretyakovka is an integral part of national patrimony and must stay federal property. The ministry of culture reminded, that Pavel Tretyakov granted the collection at the time, when there were no separation into federal and municipal.
