HIV-infected blood probably transfused to 11-year old child
By tentative data, HIV-infected blood could be transfused to 11-year old boy in Voronezh. This was informed by first deputy of main health protection administration head over Voronezhskaya oblast Mikhail Ivanov.
By his words, "analyses of 157 out of 208 patients were negative". Examination of all patients, who were transfused albumin, prepared from blood of HIV-infected donor, will be finished within 2-3 days. 3 months later patients will be examined again.
Blood with HIV-infection was received at regional blood transfusion center in May from 35-year old woman, who was a constant donor. HIV-infected plasma was transfused to 7 Voronezh citizens - 5 of them demonstrating HIV-negative blood tests.
Voronezh Office of Public Prosecutor informed that guilty can be sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment according to article 122 of Russian Criminal Code.
